羅得斯島巨像位於希臘羅得斯島(island of Rhodes)通往地中海(Mediterranean Sea) 的港口。在公元前305年羅得斯島聯邦和馬耳他(Macedonia)的安帝哥尼斯(Antigonids) 發生了一場戰爭，戰勝的羅得斯島聯邦得到大批戰利品，為了記念這場勝仗，他們便變 賣戰利品來建造羅得斯島巨像。

羅得斯島巨像是七大奇觀中最神秘的一個，因為它只在短短五十六年間便倒下了，考古學家甚至連它的確實位置及外觀都未能確定。
