pro前，vid看：pro-vide向前看。由『向前看』而指著『看到未來』，

指的是防範未然，未雨綢繆之意，其概起於神會在提供我們東西，來幫助我們。

providence，就是指神明對我們的care

provident，是形容一個人可以很有遠見，它所屬的情況像是在農夫在豐收的時候會存糧食，以備未來荒年之用；就像是神的遠見的行為。

providential，是形容某些事像是神到來了一樣，非常幸運的意思。

provision其一的意思是條件、但書，但是我可以同意你的要求，不過我有個provision (ie. condition, proviso)

這是源於宗教開會討論時，所暫時同意的論點，意思是為了未來討論而暫時同意。

這個字義，發展出 proviso and provisory

provision其二是當食物解，尤其是囤積的食物，比方說出海航行所準備的食物，可以叫provision

最後的是provisional, 它就是指暫時的。

provision
