sheriff

   ps. 在美國，sheriff是是一個county中最高的執法長官，依照每州規定不同，sheriff有不同的職務。sheriff 是要由民眾選出的(來自於英國的傳統)，職務有像是保護法院的安全，犯人的運送，或者是到處巡邏。

  Etymology: sheriff 是來自於"shire reeve"的縮寫，reeve是指代表國王而保護一個郡和平的長官，shire是指郡的意思。

  ps. 這個字原本是用於航海上的，因為在船上的空間很小，所以會要求船員把工作的地方弄的很整齊，這樣才能有足夠的空間。 不過這個字不多人使用。

  註：因為FBI在Tsarnaev 放炸彈前，其實是有偵訊過他的，但FBI那時候並沒有發現什麼，也有沒有持續留意，後來就遭受到這個批評了。
