n.貪婪 [ insatiable greed for riches]

  etymology: L avāritia, equiv. to avār(us) greedy + -itia

avid

adj.渴望的;貪心的 [ keenly desirous; eager; greedy]

adj.熱心的,勁頭十足的 [ enthusiastic; ardent; dedicated; keen ]

  ps. L avidus, equiv. to av(ēre) to crave + -idus

veracious   adj.真實的=truthful       [ver+ ac+ious]

verdict       n.陪審團的裁定 [認真的說--->判決]

verify        v.證實   [to make sure]

verisimilar  adj.跟真的很像 [~~有那種說的就跟真的一樣的感覺]

  他坦率承認自己有罪。

   ps. avowal n.公開宣佈,公開表示

   ps. vow 是誓言誓約的意思，如：結婚的時候～男女雙方要向對方說出誓約

   say someone's vow

**  Oath 比較偏向賭咒的誓言，如：發誓不會做什麼事用 make an oath never to do something
 
   但通常不會 make a vow never to do something

** 還有一個通俗的說法，就是Swear，不過這是動詞 發誓
