好久前寫的了，不過既然有人問起，那我就寫詳細一點吧

(d) neutral.. compatibility with

好久以前的題目了，重新作一次好了

All adj biological traits fall into one of two categories：
those giving their possessors greater O prep. the environment
and those rendering them more independent of it.

step 1 首先，要去瞭解題目的文法結構為：

看看選項，第一個是adj, 第二個是 o+prep. (補語＋介係詞)

those是指 xx biological traits,

them 是指 possessors,

最後面的it是指environment的意思.

step 2 拼湊出大概的意思:

全部 XX的生物特徵都可以分成兩類：

一類是 XX生物特徵會給與他的主人更多的 ?? prep. the environment.

一類是XX生物特徵會讓他的主人更對environment獨立。

step 3 作基本的分析and預估

從第二個空格來解我覺得是比較方便的，因為

o+prep the environment 一定要與 independent of the environment有矛盾的關係。

所以我們才能分出成兩個不同的categories

step 4 帶入選項
(a)  detachment from the environment  (與環境分離)

(b)  control over from the environment

(c)  freedom from the environment (與環境分離)

(d)  compatibility with from the environment

(e)  advantage in from the environment

很明顯，(a) (c)都會與independent of the environment是同義，我們可以刪去

我們再看第一格：

(b) beneficial.. control over
(d) neutral.. compatibility with
(e) harmful.. advantage in

帶入看看：

(b)

those giving their possessors greater control over the environment
and those rendering them more independent of it.

感覺不錯

(c)

All neutral biological traits fall into one of two categories：
those giving their possessors greater compatibility with the environmentand
those rendering them more independent of it.

我覺得有點怪，因為如果是個中性的特徵，應該是不會有造成好得結果，

他應該只是"就沒有反應而已"

(d)

 All harmful biological traits fall into one of two categories：
those giving their possessors greater advantage in the environment
and those rendering them more independent of it.

一看就知道是錯的
